The Wardens

In honor of the first day of the SXSW music and film festival beginning tonight in Austin, I am posting some publicity photos I did this week for The Wardens out in L.A. The Wardens are in the process of recording their debut album and have a ton of talent. Keep an eye out for them in the next few months. - brian

Road Trip West part 2

I have taken all these images so I feel the need to show them. I passed this amazing 57' Chevy in Santa Monica while heading to the beach. I had to hang out the window to get this shot. The driver probably thought I was nuts.

The other photos chronicle the moments of driving and road trips that usually pass us without thought, but say so much. These are the moments that get me. -brian

Bob and Sharon - 50 years!

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from Tammy, who asked me if I would be interested in visiting her parents ranch in Bastrop. Bob and Sharon will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the end of this month and she thought a portrait sitting was just the thing.
Below are just a few of the many wonderful images we captured, such a beautiful place and just the sweetest couple, highschool sweethearts to be exact.

Road Trip West

My friend Scott and I just drove from Austin to L.A. I am out here working on a new body of work. The road is a wonderfully relaxing place for me. Nothing to do but drive, drive, drive. Most of my road trip photos are taken while still in the car trucking down the highway. But when a gorgeous sunset presents itself, you have to pull over and enjoy the moment. Here are two for today. Thanks Scott, you are a perfect travel partner. - brian

The Austin City Limits Portraits (the end)

Here are the last of the Austin City Limits Festival photos. I hope we were able to provide a slice-of-life of the festival for those of you who didn't make it down there and a familiar glimpse for those who attended.

The Austin City Limits Portraits (a second helping)

Here is the second installment from the ACL portrait series. I am really glad we took the time to do this. We met some really wonderful people including Esther (the woman below with the amazing eyes) who is a local photographer and Giselle (the woman in the b&w photo) who is a local screen printer who is making some very cool clothes for kids. You can check Giselle out at forwardcollective.org. Again, a big thanks to all our participants.

Austin City Limits portraits

Instead of going in to the big ACL festival this year, we thought it would be fun to grab the camera and head down to Zilker Park and shoot a series of portraits of this years attendees. It was a fun project that allowed us to enjoy the festival on a different level. Over the next couple of days I'll post some of our favorites. Thanks to everyone who allowed us to take their portrait.

Hillary and James: wedding shoot

I had not met Hillary and James until this weekend. Hillary had hired us over the phone while we were away, I didn't quite know what to expect. I had them come to the studio so we could take a little time to get to know one another and then drive around town together for their wedding day photo shoot. I couldn't have been more pleased when there they were, bride and groom, in my back yard. They looked great! Full of smiles and nervous grins, obviously very much in love.

Anyone familiar with Austin will recognize many of the South Congress locations we visited. We had a great time wandering around, eliciting hoots and hollers, car horns and many other quieter congratulations from passerbys.

So one more time, "Congratulations Hillary and James, may all your days be as fun and full of love as this one."

Rollergirl Portrait Project

I have been working on a rollergirl portrait series for the past few months. I photographed the Hellcats the other day and thought I'd share some of the images. The Hellcats are one of five teams that comprise the TXRD. The TXRD is a skater owned/operated league here in Austin. If you haven't had a chance to check out a bout yet, I highly recommend it. These girls are rough, tough and mean business. The roller derby happens at the Austin Convention Center a couple of times a month. Check out their website for the next match. - brian
