A beautiful day at the Barr Mansion

It was a crisp autumn day with plenty of sunshine. The Barr Mansion did a perfect job with delicious organic food, beautiful flowers and seasonal decorations. In addition to the bride and groom, Samantha and Andrew, there was also Nathaniel and Elizabeth, their children, who played a big part in this wedding.

I loved the choice of favors, a graphically designed card made of handmade paper that contained wildflower seeds. In the spring, with the newlyweds in mind, you plant the card and watch it grow, a blossoming reminder of the love shared.

Kristin and Andrew's wedding at the Barr Mansion

Kristin and Andrew exchanged their vows at the lovely Barr Mansion last week. The bride and groom met in the Army at flight school, and as you might expect many of the wedding party and guests were also in the military. We had folks from the Army, Marines and the Air Force.
I have to admit I loved the uniforms, as well as the bridesmaids lovely yellow dresses.
It was a beautiful day and a hopping party. Here's to Andrew and Kristin, wishing you the best!

Rae and Brandon's Laguna Gloria wedding

O.K., I know I have blogged too many images from this wedding, but I couldn't help myself.
It was a beautiful location, with beautiful weather, a beautiful bride and a handsome groom, awesome guests and the sweetest family. All and all it was a pleasure to photograph. I won't say much here, I will let the photos do the talking.

But here are the facts:

Location: Laguna Gloria
Florist: Fiore Del Sole
Cake: Simon Lee Bakery
Coordinator: Bethany Childress, 36th street events
Caterer: Lyndie Clement

Gabrielle and Joe's San Marcos wedding

Gabrielle and Joe were married at St. Mark's Episcopal church in San Marcos. The reception was held at the bride's parents home. A beautiful home I might add, complete with a well loved family horse. We had an advantage at this wedding as we knew the brides family pretty well. We photographed Rachel's wedding, Gabrielle's sister, just about a year ago. I loved the bride's dress, it fit her personality perfectly. It was graceful and contemporary without being fussy.

Congratulations Gabrielle and Joe!

neighborhood finds

Being born on Long Island and having lived some time in New England, right about now I start craving signs of Autumn. The pumpkins they have shipped in to the Whole Foods don't really do it for me. I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood this evening in search of Austin's Autumn. I did find some fall color plus a couple of other added bonuses.

Vermont currants

I think I just finished this painting, but looking at it now I may need to do just a little more, hmmm?

Anyway, this may be the last one before my show opens at the Davis Gallery.
The opening reception will be in the evening on Saturday, October 25th.
Hope to see you then!

Ryan and Allyson

Earlier this week Ryan and Allyson met us at our place for an engagement session and together we explored South Congress Avenue, downtown Austin and more. Our first bit of business was the "Greetings from Austin" mural. We live right around the corner from the mural, so how could we pass it up.
Next we dropped into the fabulous Big Top Candy Store on South Congress, where the two tasted their first ever Egg Cream together. So sweet!
And as with many Austinites, the Frost building is a favorite of theirs, so downtown we traveled to get the best views. I think it worked great as a dramatic back drop for these two love birds.

The Austin City Limits Portraits (the end)

Here are the last of the Austin City Limits Festival photos. I hope we were able to provide a slice-of-life of the festival for those of you who didn't make it down there and a familiar glimpse for those who attended.
